About NET WINS

Forget the “eye test.” Forget empty stats. Welcome to the home of objective NBA history.

Most basketball debates are built on recency bias, media narratives, and highlights. NET WINS changes that. By leveraging Python, custom data models, and deep historical APIs, this publication strips away the noise to rebuild NBA history from the ground up.

At the center of it all is the Net Wins ranking system, an objective, data-driven framework designed to finally settle the GOAT debate and accurately measure player impact across generations.

Behind the Data

NET WINS was created by a database administrator, data engineer, and former sportswriter with a degree in journalism.

By day, I manage complex database architectures, build data pipelines, and wrangle large-scale datasets. By night, I channel that technical background into my passion for basketball history using Python, SQL, and custom data modeling to analyze the game in ways traditional box scores can’t capture.

This publication is where my two worlds collide. It combines my love of sports and journalism background with the cold, hard objectivity of data engineering. Just pure, code-driven basketball analysis.
